SENIOR TOBACCO REGULATORY OFFICER (AGRICULTURE LABOUR PRACTICES) VACANCY AT TOBACCO COMMISSION

Position: Senior Tobacco Regulatory Officer (Agriculture Labour Practices) (Grade TC 5) Location: Head Office, Lilongwe, Malawi Reports to: Regulatory and Enforcement Manager

Job Function: The Senior Tobacco Regulatory Officer will coordinate and consolidate tobacco industry and stakeholder efforts on labour-related strategies, addressing child labour and promoting good agriculture labour practices.

Detailed Description of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinates industry stakeholders' efforts to address labour issues in tobacco production and marketing
• Prepares work plans and commissions child labour surveys and self-assessments
• Analyses survey results, liaises with institutions, and tackles non-compliance issues
• Develops proposals for funding anti-child labour initiatives
• Works with agencies to rehabilitate children withdrawn from child labour
• Provides reports on developments and public sentiments on labour practice issues
• Builds and maintains a child labour database and consolidates ALP initiatives
• Produces agriculture labour practice-related reports and disseminates information

Minimum Academic & Professional Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture / Community Development / Social Science or equivalent qualification
• At least 3 years working experience within Tobacco Industry in a similar role
