The UN Human Rights Innovation & Analytics Hub, part of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, is seeking highly motivated interns to join either in Geneva or remotely.
Job Title: Intern – Innovation & Analytics Hub Job Location: Remote Closing Date: May 1, 2026 Contract: Internship, I-1 (Duration: 3 to 6 months, flexible start date)
The internship offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative projects using data and emerging technologies to advance human rights globally.
Interns will be assigned to one of four workstreams: Strategic Coordination & Planning, Digital Transformation & AI, Data & Analytics, or Human Rights Risk Analysis & Early Warning.
About the UN Human Rights Innovation & Analytics Hub The Hub is the UN’s first dedicated center for innovation and analytics in human rights. It serves as OHCHR’s Centre of Excellence, aligning with the Secretary-General’s “Quintet of Change”: Data, Digital, Innovation, Foresight, and Behavioral Science.
The Hub leverages advanced data analytics and emerging technologies to detect human rights trends, support early warning systems, and develop digital tools to enhance the impact of human rights work globally.
Key Responsibilities General Responsibilities Contribute to projects that create lasting impact and provide insights into the UN system’s work. Work as a full member of the team, reporting to full-time professional staff. Engage in activities aligned with the selected workstream, including research, analysis, and technical support. Depending on the workstream, interns may participate in strategic planning, digital transformation initiatives, data analysis, or risk monitoring. Workstream-Specific Duties Strategic Coordination and Planning
Facilitate strategic meetings, outreach, and training workshops. Develop analytics products, background papers, and presentations. Monitor and analyze strategic initiatives. Support communication campaigns and resource mobilization efforts. Digital Transformation and AI
Assist in planning and executing digital transformation projects. Support the development of data analytics tools and platforms. Help integrate emerging technologies into workflows. Provide technical training on digital tools. Data & Analytics
Collect, verify, and analyze data from field presences. Develop dashboards, visualizations, and insights. Contribute to the development of global human rights indicators. Support dissemination of innovative tools and best practices. Human Rights Risk Analysis & Early Warning
Monitor and report on emerging risks and crises. Draft reports, background materials, and updates. Conduct media and open-source monitoring. Support risk assessments and early warning analysis.
Qualifications and Skills Enrolled in or completed a graduate program (second degree, master’s, Ph.D.) or the final year of a bachelor’s degree. For specific workstreams, relevant fields include Political Science, Communication, Business Management, Public Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Social Sciences, Economics, International Development, Geography, Law, or related disciplines. Fluency in English (oral and written) required; knowledge of French or other UN languages advantageous. Ability to commit full-time (minimum three months), with options for remote or part-time arrangements. The “Human Rights, Risk Analysis and Early Warning” workstream requires in-person, full-time commitment.
Additional Information Internships are unpaid; costs for travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsors.
