The African Union is offering a 2026 Internship Program for citizens of AU Member States in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia!

Organization Overview – African Union The African Union (AU), a unique Pan-African continental body, is committed to advancing Africa’s rapid integration and sustainable development through promoting unity, solidarity, cohesion, and cooperation among African peoples and states.
Headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the AU aims to build its capacity to implement its organizational structure effectively and contribute to Africa’s development goals.
Purpose of the African Union Internship Program The AU Internship Program 2026 offers an exceptional opportunity for qualified individuals to complement their educational background with professional experience within the AU.
It aims to:
Develop participants’ skills and understanding of AU’s work Provide exposure to the organization’s operations across various departments Foster intercultural exchange and promote diversity Serve as a grooming ground for future African leaders Candidates will gain hands-on experience in a professional, multicultural environment, supporting AU programs, projects, and activities.
Focus Areas Interns will assist in providing administrative and technical support across various AU departments, including but not limited to:
Office of the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson Office of the Director General Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy, and Sustainable Environment (ARBE) Economic Development, Trade, Industry, Mining (ETIM) Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation (ESTI) Infrastructure and Energy (IE) Political Affairs, Peace, and Security (PAPS) Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development (HHS) Human Resources Management (HRM) Information and Communication (I&C) Women, Gender, and Youth (WGY) Others as specified

Eligibility Requirements
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
Actively enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or possess a recent Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate (Master’s) qualification in a related field
Nationals of an AU Member State
Full-time students in the final year of their Bachelor’s or graduate studies
Fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese)
Not older than 32 years at the time of application
Demonstrate high moral conduct and integrity
No serious criminal convictions (excluding minor traffic offenses)
Prior work experience is not required
Required Skills and Competencies
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email applications
Fluency in at least one AU official language; knowledge of additional AU languages is an advantage
Good interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Strong ability to work harmoniously in a multicultural environment
Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and commitment
