OVERVIEW Malawi Assemblies of God University (MAGU) is a faith-based institution of higher learning established in 2013 and accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE). MAGU is urgently seeking to fill the following vacant positions:
POSITION: SENIOR LECTURER
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD or DMin in Theological studies, or Religious Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES • Strong record of teaching, research, and publications in theology or ministry studies. • At least 5–10 years of experience in higher education or theological training. • Experience in church leadership or ministry will be an added advantage. • Must be a practicing, Christian.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES a) Organize, coordinate, and lead teaching programmes within the department with the approval of the Faculty and in accordance with University policies and academic calendars. b) Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions using innovative and student-centred teaching methods. c) Develop and review course outlines, lecture materials, and learning resources in line with approved curricula and academic standards. d) Lead the design and development of new courses and academic programmes in response to emerging academic and industry needs. e) Assess students through assignments, tests, examinations, projects, and other evaluation methods while ensuring fairness, transparency, and academic integrity. f) Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, dissertations, and theses. g) Provide academic mentoring and guidance to students to support their academic success, career development, and ethical formation. h) Ensure effective academic advising and support systems for students within the department.
AREA OF SPECIALISATION Theological Studies
POSITION: Lecturer
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters in Theological studies, or MDiv., or in Religious Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES • Demonstrated leadership in a highly professional group and growing institution • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience and or other Relevant Experience such as Research or Engagement in the relevant profession • Must be a practicing Christian
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES a) Organizing teaching programs with the approval of the Faculty. b) Maintaining acceptable standards of teaching and ensuring that facilities are available for research in their respective disciplines. c) Liaising with other departments, professional institutions, associations and similar bodies on matters affecting the department. d) Presenting the department’s academic interests, in the context of the University’s strategy, to industry, government, the professions and educational communities in local and, where appropriate international arenas.
