This grant supports women and nonbinary journalists with more than three years of professional experience in journalism.
The Kari Howard Fund celebrates storytelling that connects readers with the essence of everyday life and extraordinary love, illuminating critical issues of the day.
Named in honor of Kari Howard, a passionate storyteller and editor, the fund offers grants averaging around $5,000 to support narrative journalism projects worldwide.
Eligibility Criteria Open to women and nonbinary journalists, including freelancers and staff reporters. Applicants must have at least three years of professional journalism experience (internships do not qualify). Must demonstrate a proven track record of publication or have editorial interest. Projects can be reported and published in English anywhere globally. Reporting can be digital, print, or multimedia, with multimedia projects supplementing printed content. All reporting and publishing must be completed within six months of receiving the grant.
