Purpose of the position:
The Project Officer (Education) role is responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting education interventions within the Area Program. The role contributes to improved child well-being outcomes by strengthening access to quality, inclusive, and protective education in alignment with World Vision’s Education Technical Programme priorities and national education policies. The position works closely with schools, communities, district education authorities, and partners to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes, enhance school attendance and retention, promote child safeguarding, and strengthen community accountability for education service delivery.
Project Planning & Implementation
Develop and implement annual and quarterly education work plans aligned to ADP design. Facilitate school-based interventions including literacy improvement initiatives, remedial learning support, reading camps, life skills sessions, school meals, and safe school programming. Support strengthening of School Management Committees (SMCs), Mother Support Groups, and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs). Ensure integration of gender equality, disability inclusion, safeguarding, and disaster risk reduction. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
Collect, verify, and report data on key indicators (enrolment, attendance, retention, literacy, child protection outcomes). Conduct regular school monitoring visits and community reflection meetings. Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories. Submit timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Capacity Building & Teacher Training
Facilitate in-service teacher training (upskilling) on child-centred literacy methodologies, inclusive education, safeguarding, and positive discipline. Support mentorship of teachers and school leaders through follow-up visits and coaching. Build capacity of community education structures in school governance and accountability. Child Protection & Gender Inclusion
Promote child safeguarding policies and reporting mechanisms in schools and communities. Strengthen school-based child protection systems. Ensure safe programming practices across all education interventions Community Engagement & Advocacy
Engage local leaders, faith-based organizations, and school committees. Conduct awareness campaigns on gender equity and education inclusion. Facilitate community-district interface meetings. Coordination/Stakeholder Management
Liaise with District Education Offices and Primary Education Advisors (PEAs). Participate in district education technical coordination forums. Collaborate with other World Vision sectors (Child Protection, Health & Nutrition, WASH, Livelihoods) for integrated programming Financial & Administrative Management
Prepare activity budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor expenditures and ensure compliance with WV and donor policies Support procurement and logistics for education activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related field. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementing education or child-focused development programmes. Demonstrated knowledge of literacy and numeracy improvement approaches. Experience working with government education structures and community institutions. Strong facilitation, training, and mentoring skills. Proven report writing and data management skills Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
Experience in donor-funded education projects. Knowledge of inclusive education and gender-responsive programming Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection frameworks. Experience in results-based management and MEAL systems License, registration, or certification required to perform this position:
Valid motorcycle riding license (added advantage) Proficiency in English (written and spoken) Knowledge of local languages is a must.
