POSITION: PUBLIC HEALTH / ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH GRADUATE INTERNS (20 POSTS)

Employment Type: Internship (6 Months)
OVERVIEW Lilongwe City Council invites applications from suitably qualified and motivated individuals to fill internship positions in the Directorate of Health and Social Services. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates seeking hands-on experience in public and environmental health programs.
Role Purpose To support the implementation of public and environmental health initiatives while gaining practical experience in local government health service delivery.
Key Responsibilities • Support health education and community outreach activities • Assist in coordinating environmental health and sanitation programs • Promote occupational health and safety in workplaces • Conduct inspections of business premises such as bars and restaurants • Assist in enforcing public health regulations and standards • Participate in disease prevention and control interventions • Collect and report health and sanitation data • Support waste management and pollution control initiatives
Qualifications and Requirements • Diploma in Public Health or Environmental Health Sciences • Recent graduates (within the last 2–3 years) are encouraged to apply • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Basic computer literacy (MS Office) • High level of integrity and professionalism
