The Anglican Diocese of Lake Malawi invites applications from suitably qualified, committed and experienced Anglican faithful for the position of Accounts Assistant, based at the Diocesan Secretariat in Nkhotakota.

The successful candidate will support the Finance/Accounts function by maintaining accurate financial records, processing routine transactions and assisting with financial reporting, banking, reconciliations and financial administration.

πŸŽ“ KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • MSCE or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years’ relevant accounting experience.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience with accounting software will be an advantage.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and confidential financial records.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrable integrity, honesty and accountability.
  • Must be 20–45 years old.

πŸ“Š KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record daily financial transactions accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare receipts, payment vouchers and other accounting documents.
  • Maintain supporting documentation for financial transactions.
  • Assist with banking of Church and institutional funds.
  • Maintain petty-cash records and supporting documents.
  • Assist with bank and cash reconciliations.
  • Maintain accounts payable and receivable records.
  • Monitor outstanding payments and receipts.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and periodic financial reports.
  • Maintain an organised filing system for financial records.
  • Assist during internal and external audits.
  • Assist with payroll and staff-related financial documentation where required.
  • Ensure expenditure is properly authorised and supported.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets and expenditure.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Support the Accountant/Finance Officer in implementing sound financial controls.
  • Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the Accountant or supervisor.
