The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) is seeking a Global Accounting Officer to join its Finance and Administrative Team on a six-month maternity cover contract.
Job Title: Accounting Officer
Job Location: Global / Home-Based
Closing Date: 18 September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, 6-Month Maternity Cover (1 November 2026 – 31 May 2027)
The home-based, full-time position will support the organisation’s financial operations across its global network, including payment processing, financial reporting, expense monitoring, compliance, activity financial reviews and coordination with affiliates and regional teams.
The successful candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.

The International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) is a global organisation working to advance and protect the rights of domestic workers.
The Accounting Officer will contribute to the organisation’s financial management and operational effectiveness while supporting its mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
Payment Processing
Review expense claims submitted by staff and affiliates to ensure they are valid, accurately calculated and supported by appropriate receipts.
Ensure staff and affiliate reimbursements are processed promptly.
Review online payment instructions to confirm that payments are valid, properly approved and supported by complete and accurate documentation.
Seek the required approval from the General Secretary for payments through the e-banking system.
Activity Expense Monitoring
Track the submission of activity expense reports by affiliates and regional teams.
Follow up on overdue financial reports.
Review expenses against approved project budgets and agreements.
Verify that reported expenses are supported by valid receipts and documentation.
Coordinate with Project Managers and regional teams to clarify questionable expenses or missing documentation.
Monitor activity expenditure against approved budgets and identify overspending or savings.
Voucher Preparation and Review
Coordinate with the Accounting Assistant to ensure timely preparation of payment vouchers following bank processing.
Review payment vouchers and activity expenses submitted by affiliates and regional teams.
Ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate.
Confirm that accounting records are correctly updated.
Financial Reporting and Compliance
Assist with the month-end closing process.
Support the preparation of internal financial reports.
Assist with project financial reports for funders.
Ensure compliance with funder-specific financial reporting requirements.
Review consolidated project financials against approved budgets and funding agreements.
Track project overspending and savings.
Ensure financial documents, including vouchers and reports, are properly filed and maintained.
Other Responsibilities
The Accounting Officer will also support other duties assigned by the Finance and Administrative Team, which may include:
Supporting financial training for affiliates.
Handling reimbursements associated with organisation-wide physical events.
Providing other accounting and administrative support as required.

Employment type: Full-time
Working hours: 40 hours per week

Contract period: 1 November 2026 to 31 May 2027
The successful candidate must have their own computer, necessary software and a stable internet connection.
Immediate availability may be an advantage.
The Accounting Officer will report to the Finance Manager.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
A master’s degree is preferred.
At least 6 years of relevant hands-on accounting experience.
Strong commitment to IDWF’s mission and values and the rights and advocacy of domestic workers globally.
Proficiency in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel.
Experience using accounting software such as MYOB and SAGE.
Excellent numerical aptitude and strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and non-financial stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Previous experience working for a non-governmental organisation or trade union is an advantage.
