About the Employer / Role

Lilongwe Handling Company Limited (LIHACO) is a wholly Malawi Government-owned commercial entity established in 2000, providing passenger, ramp, and cargo handling services to national and international airlines. The company is seeking a Mechanical Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient airport operations.

Key Requirements
Education:
• Minimum MSCE with City and Guilds Part One, or TEVET Level Three in Automobile Mechanics.
Experience:
• Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities
• Check and inspect GSE at the parking area on the airside and in the workshop.
• Check and inspect vehicles referred to the workshop.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Perform maintenance jobs as assigned by the Maintenance Charge Hand.
• Document jobs carried out and those still outstanding.
• Ensure safety and security in all maintenance operations/activities.
• Provide Ground to Deck communication on the apron.
• Provide and operate ASU (Air Start Unit) and GPU (Ground Power Unit).
• Report hazards and safety risks in Maintenance and ramp operations.
• Collect FOD (Foreign Object Debris).
• Appraise staff.
• Carry out inspections on equipment/GSE and vehicles before use.
