Role Overview

The Senior Technical Manager bridges national project leadership and district implementation teams, ensuring coordinated planning, performance management, quality assurance, and accountability across supported districts. The role provides technical leadership in strengthening integrated maternal, newborn, child health, nutrition, and HIV services, supervises District Managers, translates project strategies into operational plans, and drives quality improvement and adaptive management across all districts.

Requirements

•Bachelor's degree in Nursing and Midwifery, Public Health, Health Management, or relevant health field; advanced post-graduate training in Public Health preferred
•9+ years relevant experience including 4+ years in management
•5+ years delivering, overseeing, and providing technical assistance in maternal and newborn health
•Experience working at both health facility and community levels
•Demonstrated experience leading successful teams, achieving deliverables on time and within budget
•Experience with low-dose high-frequency training, coaching, and mentorship capacity strengthening approaches
•Experience integrating malaria in pregnancy, nutrition, and HIV-focused services in maternal and newborn health care
•Experience providing technical assistance, capacity strengthening, supportive supervision, and performance monitoring in MNH
•Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with government and civil society stakeholders
•Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and reporting skills
•Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, databases, and presentation software
•Excellent written and spoken English
•Ability to speak Malawian local languages
•Ability to work independently with strong leadership and communication skills
