FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY Center for African Studies Visiting Fellowships, 2027 _University of California, Berkeley_ Deadline: 17 April 2026 Overview The Center for African Studies, with support from the Mastercard Foundation, invites Africa-based researchers to apply for two Visiting Fellowships at UC Berkeley. The fellowship provides an opportunity to pursue independent research, complete a major article or book, and foster academic ties with UC Berkeley faculty. Eligibility - Reside in an African country and affiliated with an African institution. - PhD received on or before January 2022. - Demonstrated potential to contribute to their field of study. - Preference given to projects focusing on youth, labor, livelihoods, mobility, displacement, technology, democracy, and futures. Fellowship Benefits - Return airfare to Berkeley, California. - Accommodation at UC Berkeley’s International House. - Subsistence allowance for living costs. - Desk space and access to computer at the Center for African Studies. - Access to UC Berkeley libraries, collections, and online resources. - Access to academic events and seminars.
