The U.S. Embassy in Malawi has opened applications for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program for the 2027–2028 academic year, offering mid-career Malawian professionals a fully funded year of professional development in the United States. The programme brings mid-career professionals to the U.S. for a year of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development and professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts, with around 13 host campuses offering individualized, self-directed study programmes. For Malawi, the fellowship presents an opportunity to strengthen leadership capacity across sectors including governance, health, technology, media, and natural resource management.
Experience & Qualifications: Applicants must be Malawian citizens or permanent residents who qualify for a valid Malawian passport, hold at least an undergraduate degree, have at least five years of substantial professional experience in Malawi in the relevant field, and demonstrate leadership qualities and a record of public service.
