WINGS is seeking an Africa Coordinator to support the growth and strengthening of philanthropy support ecosystems across the continent.
Job Title: Africa Coordinator Job Location: Africa (based in a country within the region) Closing Date: 17 April 2026 Contract: Consultant position for 40 hours per week, with potential travel up to 15% Salary Range: USD 30,000 to 40,000 per year (based on location and experience)
This role will work closely with members and partners to deepen engagement, foster collaboration, and elevate African perspectives in global philanthropy discussions.
The Coordinator will help shape regional learning spaces, strengthen networks, and contribute to collective efforts on issues such as enabling environments, climate change, and locally-led development.

Role Summary This position aligns with WINGS’ strategic priorities outlined in the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, particularly those related to nurturing networks and strengthening ecosystems in Africa.
Key Responsibilities Network Growth and Engagement Serve as a primary contact for WINGS members in Africa. Support regional efforts on philanthropy enabling environment, policy advocacy, climate, locally-led development, SDGs, and more. Facilitate regional conversations through online and in-person events, including the Africa Working Group. Recruit, onboard, and engage new members from Africa. Collaborate with global teams to ensure regional contributions are aligned with WINGS’ global efforts. Strengthening Philanthropy Support Ecosystems Plan and coordinate initiatives to strengthen local, sub-regional, and regional philanthropy infrastructure. Identify capacity-building needs and opportunities for increased collaboration and sustainability. Co-convene stakeholders and leverage WINGS’ global position to support ecosystems. Advancing WINGS’ Mission in the Region Develop detailed project plans and track progress. Conduct research and produce reports on regional trends, innovations, and best practices. Lead activities such as webinars, workshops, and conferences. Prepare proposals, reports, and conduct fundraising efforts. Identify and foster partnerships with organizations and funders. Represent WINGS at regional forums and conferences.

Requirements Based in an African country. Fluency in English and French; proficiency in Portuguese is an advantage. Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience. Strong experience in project or network coordination, preferably within nonprofits or philanthropy. Knowledge of the philanthropic sector and civil society landscape in Africa. Proven fundraising experience, including proposal writing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in computer systems and databases. Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree or equivalent is desirable. Willingness to travel up to 15%.
