The Policy aims to ensure equitable access to safe and reliable water while strengthening climate resilience, ecosystem protection, and integrated water resources management. It promotes coordinated management of surface and groundwater resources, improved catchment protection, pollution control, and efficient water use across domestic, agricultural, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. The Policy strengthens institutional roles, decentralization, and stakeholder participation in water governance. The revised policy also emphasizes climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and protection of water sources to enhance national resilience to floods, droughts, and environmental degradation.
