Job Summary
The National Environmental Specialist will support FAO’s Green Cities Initiative in Lesotho, focusing on urban environmental management, waste reduction, and climate resilience. The role involves policy review, impact assessments, and capacity building to promote sustainable urban development.
Key Responsibilities
Review environmental policies and safeguards. Conduct impact assessments for waste management and green spaces. Develop technical guidelines and support urban planning. Build capacity among MCC staff and communities. Launch awareness campaigns on waste and biodiversity. Establish monitoring frameworks.
Qualifications Degree in environmental science, natural resources, or related fields. Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience. Strong analytical and facilitation skills. Familiarity with Lesotho’s environmental issues.

Advanced university degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources Management, or related field. 5 years of relevant experience in: professional experience in environmental management, waste management, or urban sustainability. Working knowledge of English (C level). National of the Kingdom of Lesotho or resident in the country with a valid work permit.
