OVERVIEW Standard Bank Group is seeking a skilled Relationship Manager to grow and retain a portfolio of commercial clients, with a focus on the agricultural sector. The role involves providing customized financial solutions, fostering strategic client relationships, and ensuring the sustainable growth of the bank’s assets and revenue.
Role Purpose To develop strong business relationships with commercial clients, understand their current and long-term needs, and deliver tailored financial solutions that optimize client value and drive portfolio growth.
Key Responsibilities • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Tier 1 agri-business clients • Provide expert financial guidance and structure banking solutions aligned with agricultural cycles and value-chain dynamics • Grow the agri-business portfolio through asset expansion, deposits, transactional activity, and non-interest revenue • Identify, structure, and originate high-quality credit opportunities • Prepare comprehensive, policy-compliant credit applications, annual reviews, and monitoring reports • Assess credit, market, operational, and sector-specific risks; ensure compliance with credit policies and regulations • Manage facility structuring, onboarding, monitoring, and renewals • Collaborate with Credit, Business Finance, Legal, Operations, and other stakeholders for seamless client solutions • Stay updated on commodity price movements, climate patterns, regulatory changes, and value-chain developments
Qualifications and Requirements • First Degree in Business Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting • 5–7 years’ experience in banking, preferably in relationship management within the agricultural sector • Proven experience in client coverage and dealing with customers at all levels • Strong product knowledge, including specialized financial products and structures • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and client financial analysis • Competence in preparing and motivating credit applications
