POSITION: TRAINEE SCIENTIST - BIOTECHNOLOGY

OVERVIEW Main responsibilities and duties: Initiating and developing research proposals on various high priority areas Designing and conducting trials in biotechnology and plant breeding following appropriate scientific methods Inspecting trials /experiments, supervising and training technical support staff Preparing budgets and smart work plans for assigned research activities Collating and analyzing data for research trials using appropriate procedures and software Writing technical reports for all assigned research activities at prescribed periods Publish research results in TRFCA newsletters and recognized scientific publications Assisting in implementation of TRFCA's outreach and/or support activities Carrying out any other job as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Key Competences Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology or Plant Genetics from a recognized institution Proven competence and hands-on experience in molecular laboratory techniques Ability to produce smart work plans for assigned research activities Good scientific knowledge of principles of field and laboratory experimentation / research Competence and experience in use of statistical, bioinformatics and Microsoft packages Candidates shall be no older than thirty-five (35) years
