Position: Global Health Security (GHS) Technical Officers (3 Positions)
Locations: Zomba, Thyolo, and Balaka, Malawi
👉 Position Overview Jhpiego is seeking three qualified Global Health Security (GHS) Technical Officers to support district-level emergency preparedness, disease surveillance, and public health response systems. The role involves strengthening coordination, data systems, and rapid response mechanisms to improve outbreak management and health security.
👉Key Responsibilities Emergency Preparedness & Response Strengthen district emergency preparedness and response systems Support development and implementation of response plans and reviews Provide technical support during outbreaks and emergencies Public Health Emergency Operations Support establishment and functioning of district emergency operations centers Develop and implement operational guidelines and coordination systems Mentor staff on emergency coordination and response planning Surveillance & Data Systems Improve data quality, reporting, and surveillance systems Support use of digital health platforms and real-time data tools Strengthen data analysis and reporting for decision-making Rapid Response & Field Operations Support training and readiness of Rapid Response Teams Provide technical support during outbreak investigations and field activities Coordination & Partnerships Collaborate with government and partner organizations Participate in stakeholder coordination and technical meetings
👉Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Environmental Health, Epidemiology, or related field 5–6 years of experience in public health programs, emergency preparedness, or outbreak response Familiarity with Malawi’s health system and global health security frameworks Experience working with government, NGOs, and community partners
👉Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of surveillance systems and emergency response Ability to work in high-pressure environments Excellent coordination, communication, and teamwork skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools Willingness to travel and work during emergencies
