VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT@ MALAWI BUREUA OF STANDARDS POSITION: QUALITY MONITORING OFFICER (REPORTING) Location: Blantyre OVERVIEW The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) is a statutory organization established in 1972 by an Act of Parliament (Cap 51:02) with a mandate to promote standardization of commodities and their manufacture, production, processing or treatment and to provide for the verification and calibration of weighing and measuring instruments; and further to provide for matter incidental to or connected with standardization. The MBS is inviting applications from suitably qualified and interested persons to fill the following vacancies: 5. Vac. No. BS/EXT. VAC. 05/2026-27 Job Title: Quality Monitoring Officer (Reporting) Grade: BS6 Reporting to: Deputy Director of Quality Assurance Services Department: Quality Assurance Development Section: Imports Quality Monitoring - Reporting Responsible for: Senior Quality Monitoring Technician Number of Posts: One (1) Job Purpose To ensure efficient and effective implementation of imports and exports results processing activities. Key roles and responsibilities a) Receiving and distributing imports and exports sample results for processing; b) Supervising the drafting process of reports and certificates in line with set procedures; c) Supervising the dispatch process for reports, certificates and other documents in line with set procedures; d) Processing of annual imports certificates for clients; e) Supervising management of records related to the reporting process; f) Conducting registration, inspection and sampling of products and making certification decisions based on national and international requirements; g) Conducting market surveillances; h) Developing work procedures, guidelines and instructions; i) Supervising the compilation of weekly, monthly and quarterly plans and progress reports; j) Conducting performance appraisals for Quality Monitoring Technicians. Required Academic Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate should possess: a) A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering sciences or related fields; b) At least 3 years’ experience in industrial quality assurance.
